Étude no. 1 for Mizhar (Frame Drum) Jarrod Cagwin (2006)
This is a technique training étude for a mizhar (articulate oriental frame drum) of any diameter. It incorporates many elements of rudimental and classical snare drum technique along with specific hand techniques from myself and my studies with masters from Syria, Lebanon, and Turkey. This étude can be practiced at varied tempos. My recommendation is to strive for sustained tempo between 80 - 90 b.p.m (quarter-note). This is a series of exercises I compiled into one étude with the intention of training the student for higher technical proficiency on the instrument.
